I do a lot of reading and find myself absorbed in one specific book I will share with you all. It’s called *A New Earth* by Eckhart Tolle. I’ve read this particular book from one cover to the other. I’ve highlighted parts, written in the margins, and marked specific pages with tags. I pick it up every chance I get when I need to be reminded of my true purpose here on this earth. I can open it up to any page and, like a breath of fresh air, find myself relaxed and renewed with every word that goes in. It is to me like a bible.
I’m not here to sell the book, but much of what I believe comes from this book. And much of what I’m going to post will come from this book. So I thought I’d at least share where the information is coming from that is not already coming from my head.
My favorite parts of the book are where he speaks of the ego. We humans take everything to heart, we let egos run our lives, thinking in part that this IS our life, but it is really not.
“Whatever you learn from phychoanalysis or self-observation is *about* you. It is not you. It is content, not essence. Going beyond ego is stepping out of the content. Knowing yourself is being yourself, and being yourself is ceasing to identify with content” (Tolle, 193).
We get so caught up in hating the now, or what’s happening right now. We think if we can just get through this, something better is yet to come, and we’ll start actually living some day in the future. (Tolle is also famous for his book, The Power of Now) Enjoying the present moment is living life fully; allowing things to be just as they are in the present moment and accepting it instead of rejecting it or fighting it…this is how we become free; awakened.
Tolle states, “Not everyone is ready yet, but many are, and with each person who awakens, the momentum in the collective consciousness grows and it becomes easier for others” (7).
I’m sure Blue can give some beneficial information on this topic, and perhaps lead you to other places besides Eckhart Tolle to search for information in “soul searching.” You are not the person looking out; nor are you the person thinking or speaking. You are the watcher watching the person looking out, thinking and speaking.
This website is dedicated to love mostly. No one I know is closer to understanding love than Super Ball Man himself. Tolle writes, “To love is to recognize yourself in another” (105). When you find your soul, you begin to understand love. It is so much more than the mere words we share with one another, the actions towards one another. It’s very much like that old poem, “Love is patient, love is kind…” There is no jealousy involved. There are no plots (If I love him then I will get…) We feed our egos when we are angry, when we speak ill of others, when we take a situation personally. To fight the ego, we need to shift our consciousness. I hope readers of this post reflect on these words and, if they haven’t already done so, I hope they begin searching for who they really are.
The energy goes out and the energy comes back. “You cannot receive what you don’t give. Outflow determines inflow. Whatever you think the world is withholding from you, you already have, but unless you allow it to flow out, you won’t even know that you have it” (191).
