Who Is The Super Ball Man, And What Is Blue About?
All of us are capable of many beautiful or ugly things we might do with our lives. For a large majority of us, we work hard our whole lives and care about our family, friends and neighbors. Each of us, as we grow older, have no shortage of beliefs; Whether it be in: Science, Jesus, Allah, Capitalism, Communism, The Flying Spaghetti Monster, and so on and so forth. Some beliefs or ideologies have professed to be the truth and have been written into law by institutions or individuals. Being optimistic, perhaps the majority of these laws were created with genuine good intentions. None the less: men, women and children have died throughout history and continue to die every day resulting from conflicts risen from these so-called truths or laws (as well as other things.)
On the subject of truth, people lucky enough to be educated are able to understand that the truth doesn't change but our understanding of it does. In other words, those using the process of reflective thinking will find that their truth gradually refines as new information is obtained. In addition, just because we think something is true, doesn't mean it is. Still, some truths seem self evident, such as what was written by Thomas Jefferson in 1776:
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness.”
America's founding principles should be admired in my opinion. For all that is wrong in America, there is still much that is right. However, there are things which are right in other countries too: their ideologies, religions, etc., as well as things which are wrong in these same countries: their ideologies, religions, etc. (and so on and so forth.) In layman's terms, I'm simply saying one can usually find good and bad in almost anything.
I'd like to get to my main point. The Super Ball Man exists because he is celebrating a simple conclusion: Life is at worse: a miracle, and at its best: undefined. We did not “will ourselves into existence.” Be it evolution or “which God” did bring us into existence is hardly the most important “law” or “fact” to consider. In fact, there are many truths which transcend any human rationale thought (whether it be laws, institutions, governments, theories, individual beliefs, holy works, books, this paper, etc..) Since I am human too, I cannot give you thy truth, but I may be able to give you a hint of at least some amount of truth in accordance with my own perception of reality. (Consider me nothing more than a guide.)
I, with the legal name: Rocco A. Saya, have decided to exercise my free will and become a “Super Hero,” not in some movie, but in real life. I have chosen my own name now—Super Ball Man, due to my current activities. I have my futuristic vehicle. I have my costume. I have my props, but most importantly, I have balls. That's right...A crap-load of them (and my elves continue to make more for me.) My master plan is to bring happiness when it might least be expected or most expected, doesn't matter. I might shoot some balls out of my cannon in the back of my truck or hand you one personally, doesn't matter. You might see me doing things with balls that you have never seen in your life...
Parents, do not be alarmed. I often travel within small and large cities canvassing the streets, parks, anywhere, giving children balls if for no other reason then to demonstrate kindness to a stranger, an act of unconditional love. (I don't give to just children either, adults can have just as much fun with a ball too!) I believe that our children, as well as us, learn best by observation. I have came to the conclusion that is better for me to behave according to unconditional love rather than preach about it (nothing against those who do preach, after all, we all have our specialties!) My truck is clearly “marked,” the precise reason why I had it painted the way I did. (Years ago, I drove a “normal” truck, the police came after me too many times over misunderstandings. ) I will never offer a ride to ANYONE I don't know and there is usually always at least one other person with me. My license plate on the truck is State Of New York with tag “Blue Man.”
If some of you are still scratching your heads asking: why? I can only say this. Why I became the Super Ball Man is as important as how I became the Super Ball Man. In other words, nature and nurture. Not one or the other, but both. Science and Religion, not one or the other. For a flower to bloom, it needs the sun, but also the rain. Perhaps with no hate, love could not be understood (as much as we might not like this thought.) Perhaps admitting ignorance will invite deeper understanding with less fear. Perhaps faith is needed for that which can never be understood. Perhaps science can and does bring many good things.
And so, a hint of truth under all of our noses... shapes, shifts and creates the world we have in front of us. So many words I use to explain something so simple, yet so complex--the human spirit. The human spirit itself is above all manifestations which come from it in the first place. A human cannot create a law, or truth, which is "above" that which gave the human the ability to be able to exist in the first place (at least not right now!) Since this is true, we might conclude, then, that none of us, including me, knows entirely what the best answer to any given problem is, or why we even exist. Further, because of causality, each of us, ultimately, effect one another in "some way." This planet, and everything on it, really is "one thing" if you look at from this point.
All things born must die eventually. I consider my life a gift from God. However, this is only my belief... for God may not exist. Regardless my thoughts, it is evident to me, that humanity needs one another regardless of our differences or similarities. For all of our "screw ups," we have had some real successes too.
Perhaps the solution to most problems is accepting a stalemate rather than a loss or win. In other words, do onto others as you would have them do to you. And so, you see it really is simple after all, I give balls away as an expression of unconditional love. Why should I practice unconditional love? It's in my best interest to do so. As a human myself, I find kindness from others, even if it is not needed, to bring a certain happiness. I like being happy. Although being sad doesn't seem much fun, it does allow me to understand what it means to be happy. I wish to be able to eat. I need food in order to survive. Starving to death is a horrible thing. I want to take care of my family. I want to be a good person, but sometimes I think I'm not. In the end, I am both the super hero, and a mere mortal of a man who has real needs, like anyone else. It is this realization that drives me... Each day I wake up, it is a new day, and quite frankly the older I get, the more I begin to believe anything is possible... instead of the other way around...
Blue is based on some of the ideas I've written here. The Super Ball Man was born from "being blue." What does it mean to be blue? As I mentioned in my video, "At worse life is a miracle, and at best it's undefined." What do I mean by this? I'll try to put this as best as I can in words (difficult!) First, let's tackle the "undefined" part first.
Life is a gift from an unknown benefactor. This is the truth from a rational perspective in the current realm of reality as we know it to be. From a spiritual perspective, I have my ideas (which is the concept of Blue,) but so too, others have their ideas as I mentioned earlier. Did God create the world in 7 days? Is the Atheist correct in assuming life happened on its own? What about the Muslim? The Buddhist?
You know, I had a professor once tell me: "You have a mind, please use it." I'll never forget that day, the look of amazement on his face, and mine... mutual respect... Time is not linear as we once thought, (thank you Einstein,) instead ... it is the 4th dimension... which means ... it should be respected as such... Which means, time itself (if infinite) allows all possibilities to exist. However, at any given atomic moment (if we could freeze time,) our current state exists but then disappears in a flash, to become our "history." We cannot go "back in time." ... Here, in this reality, we do not yet exist in the future... This leaves us with now. Therefore, it is easy to see that what we do now creates/affects the future, which becomes the past instantaneously. Tricky. Tricky indeed. If we could find absolute time zero, what would be there? A buddhist will tell you--nothing is there. A great scientist will refuse to absolutely answer this question, but ... they will take delight working on the problem anyway's. Religion will tell you--God. The Super Ball Man will not answer this question for you. Rather ... he will give you a small, yet very valuable gift--a ball. Consider the ball to be you. Do with it what you wish. This is the gift, hence the expression: "At best, life is undefined."
What does the Super Ball Man wish for? I have too long of a list :)
But for now, Blue (Super Ball Man) has found harmony. Impossible I've been told... Really? Perhaps we've gotten it wrong all along. Perhaps the concept of heaven has been here all along. And why not? John Lennon lives in me. Gandhi guides me. Martin Luther King inspires me. Jesus embraces me. My mother taught me. The Atheist guides me. My 6th grade teacher taught me justice. The Buddhist amazes me. The tree shades me. The sun warms me. The rain wakes me. Everything that touched me or will touch me has a story to tell, a tear to shed, a laugh to share. That all of this is possible--hence the expression: "At worse life is a miracle." Indeed, I am alive! (And for those bad days, remember; it could be worse.)
Pass the bread, or in my case, the ball!
